Open For All!
18 Oct, 2007 :: Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

The day Doulos arrived in Kota Kinabalu, staff in national dress warmly welcomed the Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Joseph Piarin on board. Although the distinguished guest was present to open the book fair to the public, he also expressed his deep respect for the crew’s commitment to peace and international understanding. After his kind words, the audience of invited guests proceeded to the book fair for the ribbon cutting ceremony. The visitors murmured in happy surprise at the ship’s extensive literature selection as Doulos Book Fair Manager Joe Parker (USA) welcomed them. “What can we say with so many books - let’s have a look at them and enjoy ourselves!” Datuk Piarin gladly announced to the eager audience after cutting the ribbon. Since then, over 30,000 people have followed his recommendation and stepped on board to browse the selection themselves.
